Review of The Final Destination (2009) by Alex S — 23 May 2018
1: I've only seen the first film in the series and this one, but I'm already tired of it despite missing the intervening 3 or so pictures. The first picture was a fresh, well written, and exciting change from the more common slasher pictures.
Time was actually spent investing in the characters and exploring their plight, while the death scenes seem new and inspired. Here the story is really in the background and the film focuses on the 3D effects, which aren't even impressive.
The effects in the first film made me jump more than these do, despite the fact that they're 3D. The casting and performances are fairly subpar as well.
