Review of The Final Destination (2009) by Ryan P — 26 Aug 2011
THE Final Destination, is this the FINAL installment? Only time will tell. So, before talking about this one I should say my opinion on the others. The first two are genius; great story, acting, and amazing deaths. I didn't like the third one that much though. By the time you get to 3 you know the formula and it becomes pridictable and dull. I knew that same feeling would happen with this one, and it does but to my surprise it recovered quickly from it. Yes, it's the same concept as the others but this was (to me) more enjoyable than 3, but no where near as good as the first two.
The Final Destination is in the end nothing more than inventive deaths to see, but it has some effort put into it when it comes to make it enjoyable. Unlike some,(Halloween II) it lets us scream and laugh at the same time which makes it worth the money. Now the film does have it's downfalls. The acting is amateur, it IS predictable, (espically in the beginning) and it has some pretty stupid death scenes.(Ex. pool scene). But all in all, I had fun. I had the same reaction with this as I did with "My Bloody Valentine 3D" I knew it was going to be bad, and as a movie itself it was, but it was fun to watch. So really you have a 50/50 shot of liking this. It's nothing special but I liked it.
