Review of The Final Countdown (1980) by Simon W — 11 Jan 2009
This is a very intriguing movie. It's about what would happen if a 1980s era aircraft carrier were thrown back in time to the day before the Pearl Harbor attack in 1941. Kirk Douglas plays the captain who has to make the choice whether or not to intervene, and Martin Sheen plays a civilian observer on board who urges for the preservation of the past.
It is well acted and examines whether or not we should try to change events that made us who we are. It was very good, my only problem is that the climax isn't very fulfilling, but the epilogue won me back over.
