Review of The Final Conflict (1981) by Eric D — 10 Jun 2008
Sam Neill as Damien. No. It just doesn't work. Perhaps it was poor directing, but the whole movie was lacking in both thrills and believability. (Okay... it's a movie about the second coming of Christ.) Damien's little monologue near the halfway point and incessant use of the term "Nazarene" throughout the film (drinking game idea!) kill what little tension the movie purports. I guess Sam Neill works from a visual perspective because he does look like the previous younger versions of Damien (especially from the original at times). The ending is a total disappointment and was probably written in about 5 minutes (which actually coincides with its length).
Only for purists of the series who want to watch every single Omen movie there is.
