Review of The Final Conflict (1981) by Kyle L — 29 Aug 2012

Though Omen III The Final Conflict has a lot of improvements over it's awful predecessor this is still an awful film because it also had the same issues and problems of it's predecessor and it is still a bad film but not nearly as awful and bad as it's predecessor it just could have been better because this movie had some suspense but it wasn't enough to make a good Horror movie.

I like the plot though as always of the Omen trilogy since the original Omen shows his birth then Omen II shows his Rise To Power and Omen III shows his Armageddon and the basic plot of Omen III is about Damien Thorn now an ambassador is now living on a different life and not before he can finally fulfill his destiny as the Anti Christ and Damien also has assigned one of his followers and disciples to kill every Male child born on March 24 in order to fulfill his destiny as the Anti Christ and a group of Monks are now assigned to kill Damien Thorn in order to stop the Anti Christ's Armageddon against the world and it is now up to the Monks to stop and kill Damien Thorn with the daggers of Meggido to prevent his Armageddon against the world before Damien Thorn can fulfill his destiny as the Anti Christ.

Omen III could have been so much better so far although I was kind of fund with this film on certain parts but not really super fund of it a lot as I was fund of the original Omen although I was fund of this movie over it's awful and terrible predecessor because this movie seriously had surpass all of the mistakes of it's terrible predecessor.

I was enjoying a couple of parts with this film and I did like some of the ideas better in this movie than the ideas of it's predecessor. What's great about this film is that the movie has more suspenceful scenes over Omen II and there are lots of tense and suspenceful parts in this movie and the dog that was in the original Omen is still scary and creepy as hell and there are so many suspenceful scenes in this film and I like the idea that this movie is even more suspenceful over it's predecessor and it could have been better if there were more suspenceful scenes in this film.

What I was also fund of this movie is that the movie has a lot of improved kills over Omen II and there are lots of suspenceful and intense kill scenes in this film. The scene where the first Monk dies by getting burned alive after attempting to kill Damien from above the ceiling during Damien's interview is one of the most suspenceful kills in the film and I did like that scene because that scene shows more suspense and that kill was just brilliant and I like how the first Monk dies in the film and that was a really tense part of the film so far.

The scene where the next two Monks killed they're partner accidentally by stabbing they're partner repeatedly with the Meggido daggers in which they thought that they finally have the chance to kill Damien Thorn is one of the most brutal and the most gruesome parts of the film and the way they accidentally stabbed they're friend is really gruesome before the two Monks are locked and trapped in some cellar and that was a gruesome death scene so far.

While the scene where the next two Monks are killed in which Damien scares the horse which causes the third Monk to die by falling is one of the most suspenceful parts of the film and the death of the second Monk is really intense as well and I like how that scene uses suspense a lot and it was just a great scene so far.

While the deaths of each baby born on March 24 in the film is also one of the most intense parts of the film and the way the baby dies is just disturbing so far. While the scene where Damien's secretary gets killed by getting hit with a really hot Iron is one of the most suspenceful parts of the film so far.

What I also like about this film is that the movie has more twists and turns over it's predecessor and I like how Peter turns into an apostle of the devil in this movie a lot and the twists in this movie is just great so far.

The biggest downside once again of this movie is that this film lacks the originality of it's predecessor although at least it wasn't super boring as it's predecessor and it could have been better so far but at least it seriously succeeds over it's forgetful predecessor.

My other problems with this film is that the movie is still lacking of suspense and it could have been so much better if it had all of the suspense of the original Omen. While my other problem with this film is that it could have been better if there were no lengthy and predictable scenes and this movie was slow paced on certain key parts of the movie could have been a lot better so far.

Now the acting is great Sam Neill portrays the character of Damien Thorn perfectly and his performance as the older and adult version of Damien Thorn is just great and he was kinda creepy and scary as well.

Director Graham Baker at least handled his directing well over Don Taylor's directing in Omen II and I also heard that since Richard Donner was supposed to direct this film before he became the producer of this movie I wished that David Seltzer could have come back to rite this film and Richard Donner would be directing this movie that could have been great so far if the original Omen creators returned for this movie.

Overall Omen III The Final Conflict gets a 4/10 because this movie has a lot of improvements over it's awful predecessor but it is still a pointless Horror film. At least The Asylum's low budget rip off of this movie titled 666 The Beast which is also a sequel to 666 The Child shows better improvements over this awful movie and this movie is only for those who are suckers for Omen films.
