Review of The Fighting Temptations (2003) by James H — 10 Apr 2004
The Fighting Temptations is a pretty ordinary light comedy staring Cuba Gooding and Beyonce Knowles. This film is really a vehicle for Knowles and Gooding's once promising career continues to languish.
Overall, this movie is inoffensive fluff that is good for nothing more than rainy day viewing. The story involves Gooding going back to his small Georgia home-town to collect an inheritance from his deceased aunt.
One catch: he needs to direct the aunt's beloved church choir in a gospel competition. Let the hilarity commence. There is nothing particularly original in this movie and it could almost be viewed as Sister Act 3 (god forbid), but its not an offensive movie and some of the character actors are humorous.
Average at best..
