Review of The Fighter (2010) by Kristina H — 01 Oct 2012
Boxing?
PLOT:This movie is about the life and times of Mickey Ward, the boxer, brother of Dicky Eklund who took down Sugar Ray Leonard. I'll et the movie lead from there. I never was interested in boxing, but this was actually a pretty compelling drama revolving around the sport.
ACTING:Very excellent. Every cast member was real into the parts they played, like most casts should do.
SCORE:Great soundtrack that includes classic rock and inspiring score.
OTHER CONTENT:It was a very compelling drama, but it had its flaws. Other than my disinterest in boxing, the factor that kept it from being a hit was how formulaic it was. Simply put, predictable and a little unreal because of its predictability.
OVERALL, though I'm not interested in boxing, it was a great, compelling drama with excellent acting and inspiring score. Yet, it's so formulaic that it seems unreal.
