Review of The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967) by Erik K — 18 Sep 2005
As a big fan of horror spoofs like Young Frankenstein and Shaun of the Dead, I had high expectations for this film. Unfortunately, it was mediocre and lacked the solid jokes of Young Frankenstein. Like Shaun of the Dead it was more character humor, but unfortunately only one character is consistently funny.
Unlike the previous movies mentioned, this movie doesn?t resolve anything. Nothing is accomplished and left me feeling very unsatisfied. However, it?s decent if you?re in for a very early take on the horror spoof genre, but don?t expect to laugh too much. For laughs, rent Mel Brooks? Young Frankenstein. That film delivers the sharp wit that this film is obviously lacking.
