What a scrumptious treat of a movie this is from first to last! you're moved to love then hate emma stone's character. I always knew olivia coleman was great since Broadchurch but she's really outdone herself as the indulgent, infantile queen A.

Rachel Weisz is more than believable as the devoted Lady. the ending is brilliant and affirming for all of its characters. this movie has all the depth, genuine sensuality, subversive writing that was lacking in the alternate period piece about another royal, mary queen of scots.
