There are ao many reasons I enjoyed this movie: the dark humor, the costumes, Rachael Weisz, the surrealism, and the cringe-worthy authenticity. Abigail's carriage ride to the palace exemplifies a sort of truthfulness that makes me recoil but the dose of humor added to the scene made it digestible but as the movie goes on, shit just gets too real and I found myself praying for the movie to end--hence my not giving this film all five stars.

As a writer, however, I admire the brutal truthfulness of emotion and humanity. I must add that now I have a full on girl crush on Rachael Weisz. She portrayed such strength, intelligence, and brutality which made her a match for any male opponent yet she managed to retain her femininity.

And, Damn! she rocked those britches and long coats. There were no heroes or villains in this movie which is another thing that, as a writer, I love about this pic. I highly recommend, especially to those who enjoy movies that reflect on the complexities of human behaviour.
