Apparently I live in a bubble, because I did not realize that Yorgos Lanthimos was the director when I set off to see this film, and I waa almost waylaid by the bad reviews of the critics. But when there is such a huge descrepency between the lay critic and the pro, I tend to chaulk it up to those that like the easy fix of sanitized hollywood films, and action flicks, to those that can deal with the messy creative heart.

and everything out of the box. This is all about the messy divided contradictory human heart, and the desperations that motivate it, with gorgeous costumes, sordid make up, unbearably bad wigs, teetering cherum, bad manners and incredible acting.

I discovered Yorgos in the Lobster, and now I need to see everything this great director has produced.
