Review of The Favourite (2018) by Mimi B — 14 Dec 2018

This is one of those "critics" darling films that audiences can't understand. I saw it today and most of the audience, a mix of people, were talking out loud about how absurd and unpleasant this film was.

It's disjointed, the story makes no sense, the affectations are rather ridiculous and some people actually booed at the end. Many commented on how gratuitously crude it was. Yes Olivia Coleman takes her character by the bone and shakes it.

But far too many characters are only extreme sketches in fancy dress wear and the story goes nowhere. The production is great to look at and the actors chew the scenery, so 2 stars.
