Review of The Fault in Our Stars (2014) by Dann M — 31 Oct 2014
"Pain demands to be felt." The Fault in Our Stars is a touching film with an inspirational and life-affirming message. The story follows two young teenagers with cancer that become star-crossed lovers and give each other strength and a renewed sense of life.
It's sappy and melodramatic, but it's also sincere and comes from a place of truth. Starring Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Laura Dern, and Willem Dafoe, the film has a strong cast and the performances are quite good; particularly Woodley, whose performance is extraordinarily powerful.
While The Fault in Our Stars may be a cliched and predictably tragic love story, it's done in an incredibly heartfelt way.
