Fresh, self-aware, and loaded with emotional pathos, this young star-cross'd romance admirably succeeds where many have failed. Shailene Woodley really shows off her acting chops and plays along greatly with Ansel Engort, who is also a dynamic lead.
Even if its elements don't reach the heights they aspire to, much of the greatness of this film is in watching their characters progress throughout the film.
