Review of The Fault in Our Stars (2014) by Allison K — 25 Mar 2015
Nicely done! A lot of things went well here. The performances by the leads were quirky, sharp, and full of heart. They were really able to get inside the characters heads. The direction was very delicate, and it handled the grief and suffering in a way that didn't feel forced.
There were a few times where I felt that the message was a little superficial, and I think the book packed more punch. Overall, it was a well made, well acted film that really took the time to make the emotion authentic and real.
And no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't keep myself from letting the tears roll.
