Like The Hunger Games series, The Fault In Our Stars is based on a book. Although it is great as The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, it is better than most book to film adaptations.

Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Gus (Ansel Elgort) are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them - and us - on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group.

The Fault In Our Stars is one of the biggest surprises I have seen in 2014. When I saw the trailer, I thought it was going to be just as bad as the Twilight saga despite having Shailene Woodley in it. But, to my surprise, it is actually a good movie.

The story kept me interested the whole time. It was emotional and sad. Having cancer is not a good thing especially if you have it in real-life. It is one of those things that people won't care about especially it is based on a book like I mention before.

Not only I cared about the storyline, I also cared about the characters too. And the acting is great too. Shailene Woodley is excellent in this film along with Ansel Elgort. They both have brilliant chemistry together. Unlike Woodley and Elgort, most people in most romance films today have little to no chemistry with each other. Another thing that I forgot to mention is that both Elgort's and Woodley's performances are much better than their performances in Divergent. Plus, this film is a better movie than Divergent.

What is surprising is that the film have a lot of humor. With most comedies today, the humor is usually not funny or it just falls flat. But in this film, the humor is funny and it never falls flat.

However, there are some negatives to the film. One, despite the fact I cared about the characters and the story, I feel like it can get too emotional and a little sentimental at times. And two, again like The Hunger Games, Twilight, and Divergent, it is based on a book like I just mention before. So, we probably going to get some sequels and a two-part finale which those things should not happen because the film is fine by itself.

Despite the negatives, I really like The Fault In Our Stars a lot. It is shocking (in a good way) in every way (almost). It is a film that everyone should see even if you are a fan of the book.
