Review of The Fault in Our Stars (2014) by Skyview B — 08 Sep 2015
The Fault In Our Stars, directed by Josh Boone, is an amazing story based on the novel by John Green. I would reccomend this movie to anybody. It is a heartfelt drama that just about anybody would love.
Hazel Grace Lancaster, a 16 year old teenager with cancer meets Augustus Waters, who is in a similar situation, at a support group for cancer patients. Hazel and Gus share a dry sense of humor and a love for An Imperial Affliction, Hazel's favorite novel. As the two get to know each other, they fall in love. Through the ups and downs in their relationship, their love will prevail.
The overall theme of this story, I belive, is to be yourself. This theme may be hidden in a way, but I belive that both john Green, the author, and Josh Boone, the director, both wanted this to shine through. Even though they fell in love, both Hazel and Augustus stayed true to themselves. This movie teaches so many great lessons, but this is the greatest, in my opinion.
The films visual appearance was very well thought through and planned. I loved how the camera moved in unique angles. The focus and depth of field were great. The angles were great! I loved how the lights in certain places were blurred. The director really made me feel like I was there and just watching everything happen.
This movie is amazing. I can watch it over and over again. I love watching it! I would recommend it to almost anybody. It is PG-13 so expect some language. I am so in love with this movie and its book. I think you should stop what you are doing right now and go watch it. I'm serious, why are you still reading?
