Review of The Fault in Our Stars (2014) by Barney O — 17 Sep 2015
WHAT I LIKED: It makes even the toughest moviegoer smile and cry, 'Fault in our stars' is a beautiful love story where character and social issues are explored beautiully. The cast all protray their characters well, and you really feel and empathise with the situations.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: Nothing really jumps out and makes this film something special. Also making this sort of film and making it not cheesy is hard, so prepare for some cheesy moments. Plus the book is arguably a better and more relationship driven tale, whereas the film focuses more on each character (which could annoy book fans).
VERDICT: It's a lovely, if cheesy love affair. But by far this film's gem is it's cast who bring buckets of emotion for audiences.
