Review of The Fate of the Furious (2017) by Kevin A — 12 May 2017
Although at least half of all the mayhem and car stunts, explosions and fight scenes defy Isaac Newton's first, second and third laws of physics, this is still a must see blast of a film. Taciturn Dom (Vin Diesel) returns but has been blackmailed to the dark side by Cypher (Charlize Theron) in Game of Thrones blond extensions.
After the film opens with a drag race through the streets of Havana, Cuba (the first American film allowed to film on Cuban soil since the early 60's), Cypher appears to put her plan of world domination in place by making Dom a traitor to his all important "family".
The stunts are fantastic and a scene of self driving cars self starting and raining out of high rise parking lots in Chicago is just too fantastic to believe. Surprisingly there are emotions running in the film and gags aplenty including a surprise cameo by Helen Mirren as a bossy mother to Jason Statham.
This is a blast and it is impossible to take your eyes off the screen because you don't want to miss any of the crazy sh--t going on,.
