Review of The Fate of the Furious (2017) by Kyle D — 10 Jun 2017
A solid entry into the Fast franchise. The film has all the action and high octane energy that has made this series so great. The story has our protagonist in Cuba as we see Letty and Dom on their honeymoon.
Then we see Cypher played by Charlize Theron interrupt their vacation and gives Dom an ultimatum that starts off a chain of events causing the team to be splintered. The action set pieces are great and fueled with so much fire power I don't know how they are going to top themselves in the ninth film.
Well written story and great direction bring this project and franchise to a new level. The absence of Paul Walker and his character's bond with Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto can be felt. It is very nice to see Dwayne Johnson have a much bigger role in this installment compared to the last film.
The chemistry between Johnson and Statham's characters can clearly be seen by the audience and there have been talks about a possible spinoff which could be an added bonus to the popularity of the already world wide powerhouse.
The Fate of The Furious is the beginning of a new trilogy and the sky is the limit when it comes to seeing how the series will end.
