Review of The Fate of the Furious (2017) by Brian D — 13 Jun 2017
I think the franchise has peaked and every person involved is only here for the large bankroll. The only actors who seem to be actually trying are Statham and Johnson, this might be because of the writing but they are the highlight in an otherwise pedestrian action film.
The last film was the swansong for the franchise with the passing of Walker, I just couldn't find anything worthwhile with this film. Theron should stick to her normal strong independent roles because she just fell to the side.
The only downsize is this franchise is now hitting huge box office, Vin Diesel will keep these hitting while they are viable as he struggles outside of these films. I hoped the series would finish but with another scheduled to hit in the not too distant future, there will be more no stakes storytelling.
The spark has died and how this franchise survived this long is just remarkable. 14-06-2017.
