Review of The Fate of the Furious (2017) by Scott M — 13 May 2017
I was roped into this as part of the "I've watched your films, now you can watch one of mine" agreements by my 17 year old son, who's college friends ex-girlfriends best friends neighbour apparently said it was good.
So naturally I went into this with lowish expectations and had only seen the first and last 20 minutes of the very first one...I had a rough idea of the set up through media articles about of the previous outings I had somehow read.
So I sat back preparing myself for 2 hours odd of top of the range cars being smashed up through dodgy CGI and a host of quality actors hamming it up to the max via laughable poor scripts!!, yes some of the acting was a bit shaky and cringeworthy (Mr V Diesel!!) but I must admit I was very surprised in how much I enjoyed this film.
Firstly the long running time seem to fly past due to a great mix of humour and a handful of superb action set pieces..the car chase scenes are wildly over the top but get away with it due to great CGI and are very enjoyable.
Very few films have had me genuinely laughing but the cast seem to have a believable chemistry with some memorable comedy moments, I now looking forward to watching the others in the series and hope they are as good as this.
