Review of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) by Clay B — 01 Jun 2011
This will be short. With such a limp story, average acting delivery, and a weak script, it's pretty hard to have at least a decent movie. I'm just thankful for director Justin Lin's keen taste for action sequences, if not I probably could've cared less for the movie as I'm not really into this franchise (but Fast Five got me more into it).
Unlike Fast Five, the focus of this movie through the audience's eyes is really set on the racing and the cars. It's difficult to make a great movie that centers around that concept. What we, the audience, really wanted to see was the drifting and Lin really delivered, through the eyes of a beginner and a pro.
Overall, this movie was okay, and doesn't really tie into the main story too much, until the end at least... Strange as it is to say, I'd like to see a Tokyo Drift 2! Check my notes on why I think there should be a direct sequel =).
