Review of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) by Cristian M — 17 Nov 2013
In the third installment to the Fast and the Furious franchise, the studio wanted to go a different direction after the not so great 2 Fast 2 Furious film. With a new director and new crew can it actually hold up to the original one?
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. For starters we get a new lead named Sean, who runs into trouble after a race that ends bad and is forced to move to Tokyo, Japan where his father is stationed. There Sean finds the under ground racing of Tokyo and a very different technique called drifting. Of course he wants in and quickly picks it up along with a new crew and new enemies.
For the film itself departing away from the original crew, I actually enjoyed it more then the original. It was new and awesome with nice ass looking cars. It was fun and exciting to especially watching Sean learn how to drift. And his mentor Han was awesome chill and you liked him instantly when he lets Sean drive his own car.
The roles are fine, even Bow-Wow wasn't annoying and the director Justin Lin did a fantastic job and I'm glad he stuck around to direct 4, 5, and 6.
In my opinion it's my favorite and very different from the others but obviously I recommend watching the first two and then jumping into this one. You probably won't be disappointed.
