Review of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) by J H — 19 May 2011
Yet another movie I could not watch all the way through. Mostly because I became so incredibly bored. The driving was nice, sure, but why not just go to a car show? I would be more entertained and there wouldn't be so much cheese all over the place (unless it was a Car & Cheese Expo).
First of all, who gave rappers permission to act? Most of them just plain cannot. Sure, you see some every now and then that surprise you...but Bow Wow is not one. Nearly the entire Japanese cast was disappointing as well.
This was not acting...it was...hell, I don't have a name for it. It was so bad, in fact, that not even Lucas Black could carry me through. I try to believe that he's a good actor, I really do.
I saw "Crazy in Alabama" and I saw "Flash" and I saw "Sling Blade" - in all of which he impressed me. I have still failed, however, to see "Friday Night Lights" (it's on my list).
I just honestly don't think this character on the page had enough for the young actor to go off. I really don't think the character of "whatever his name was" was very well written. He was just a necessity for the lame, half-cocked story.
For the good of Earth, stop making "Fast and Furious" movies - they're neither.
