Lacks the star power of the first two entries in the Fast and the Furious franchise but the welcome change of scenery and culture, toned down action/driving scenes and more subtle, personal story make this third title a breath of fresh air following the overblown tomfoolery of part 2.

Lucas Black, like Paul Walker before him, is no Vin Diesel but he is surprisingly likable as lead character Sean, even if he is quite clearly too old to be playing a 17-year-old! Sung Kang, Brian Tee, Bow Wow (yes, that is his name) and the gorgeous Nathalie Kelley round out a pretty solid and well utilised cast.

The film does have plenty of dumb moments, especially towards the end when the Yakuza get involved, but it's positively restrained by 2 Fast 2 Furious standards and the focus on actual street racing, which went walkabouts last time out, puts it more into line with the original.
