Review of The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006) by Sean S — 06 Apr 2015
Most people disavowed this third episode because the franchise took a complete different direction and located the action in Tokyo instead of L.A. to be honest this is exactly why I personally adored the film.
The setting is insanely great, Tokyo by night is magnificent and Justin Lin turned out to be a far better director for the franchise than Rob Cohen who made the classic original film or John singleton who made a disappointing second episode a little light on the story and adrenaline.
This third episode was going a different direction and to be honest since Walker and Diesel were out, it turned out to be pretty good. The drifting sequences and soundtrack were insane and to this day I still have goose bumps thinking about these cars racing in Tokyo by night.
Maybe not the strongest opus but definitely superior to some, this third episode holds some pretty decent storyline and of course some amazing car racing sequences. Guilty pleasure from start to finish.
