Review of The Fast and the Furious (2001) by Brandon W — 06 Apr 2015
Everyone loves how over the top and crazy the new fast and furious movies are. I do admit that I am a sucker from awesome visuals and stunts, I would still say that I prefer the original entry over the newer films.
I haven't seen Point Break so I won't be making any comparisons between the two of them like every other critic on the internet. David Ayer is one of my favourite writers in Hollywood and you can really see his writing here.
Unlike the newer films, I can actually see the characters driving the plot of the film (No pun intended). Their motivations, their strengths and weaknesses make the action scenes all the more enjoyable.
This is a movie about two friends on the opposite side of the law with fast cars in it. The new movies are about explosions and fast cars with some people who lack any personality (except for the two black guys) in it.
This movie knew what was important and it showcased it really well. Sure some of the acting isn't that good and it can feel a little outdated at times, I really enjoyed this movie! My favourite in the series!
