Review of The Fast and the Furious (2001) by Dov D — 26 Dec 2013
The film that launched the incredibly successful Fast and Furious franchise is surprisingly well scripted and directed for the type of mindless thriller it's target audience were expecting. In what is probably Rob Cohen's best film to date, he managed to include genuine plot and character development, limited as it may have been, and didn't go overboard on the action sequences like nearly every sequel did.
The acting was pretty poor overall... RIP Paul Walker, I'm sure he was a good person, but the man cannot act, him dying doesn't change that... I mean, for a popcorn action flick, it was the perfect combination of action and drama; but there was little to nothing else to be found.
.. Bottom line, this is a decent popcorn flick. I'd recommend it to most action movie fans out there.
