Review of The Family Man (2000) by Zach G — 01 Aug 2010
Nicolas Cage delivers in this comedy/drama as Jack Campbell, a wealthy Wall Street M&A who has all the things one could want in the single high life. He is reported of getting a call from his ex girlfriend Kate on Christmas Eve and while going into a convenience store he witnesses a man named Cash pulling a gun on the clerk for not believing he has the winning lottery ticket. Jack buys the ticket from the man and the two talk about what Jack wants in life, in which he cannot think of anything. He goes to bed in his penthouse for the night but wakes up next to Kate on Christmas Day in their house with two kids. Shocked and confused, he drives to the city to find out his old friends and employees don't know him and runs across Cash who explains that he is in an alternate universe in order to learn a lesson. Jack then goes through his life there which he hates but comes to love along with falling in love with Kate all over again and realizing what he really wants. However when he finally ends up back in his penthouse he goes in search for Kate to try and make his vision a reality.
This is an unbelievably great movie and one of my favorites. Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni deliver in this great film to enjoy.
