Review of The Family Man (2000) by Tyler M — 31 Mar 2012
What if...
It's a good heartwarming movie...
The Story: A big time broker, Jack Campbell, wakes up to find himself in a new, lower class life. The film is for the most part spent as Jack tries to adapt to his new life. It moves along at a decent pace, and is actually pretty funny at times, if just a little longwinded at times. Like I said it's a heartwarming movie, it's meant to make you realize just how good life is without all the fancy things. Not the most original but still pretty entertaining.
The Cast: Nicolas Cage, Tea Leoni, Makenzie Vega...Nicolas Cage is great here, not amazing but still manages to give an above average performance as the fish out of water character, that is Jack Campbell. Tea Leoni, is great here as well. Playing the part of Jack Campbells confused wife, and mother of his children. Definately one of her better roles, she really shines. Makenzie Vega, is the child he never really imagined he would have. She helps him throughout the film, informing him of all the things he needs to know. Not the best child actor in the world, but she gets the job done.
One to Five Scale: 3.
Not the most original concept, but strong performances from Cage and Leoni make this one worth watching.
