Review of The Family Fang (2016) by Matt C — 07 May 2016
Art is the MacGuffin at the center of this vivisection of the American family, allowing a specific, incredible tale of one family of four to lay bare so much about all parents, children and how each uses and discards the other to create an existence of wonder, normalcy and/or worth.
Not many stories aim this high or cut this deep, maintaining the ability to be subtle, surprising and satisfying in equal measure. Lindsey-Abaire's wise and witty script finds the soul in its source material and actor/director Bateman culls quality from all his performers.
