Review of The Family Fang (2016) by Filipe C — 16 May 2016
A penetrating look into a dysfunctional family, Jason Bateman's second film as a director is nothing short of fascinating. Not only The Family Fang offers thought-provoking questions about the nature of art and its relation to family dynamics and what it means to be human, but is also able to do so while keeping an impossibly charming and offbeat tone that services the narrative to perfection.
Showcasing his sensibilities both behind and in front of the camera, Bateman leads a cast that revels in their nuances and neurosis making this deconstruction of phobias an absolute pleasure to watch.
