Review of The Family (2013) by Adrian Z — 15 Feb 2014
De Niro and Pfeiffer, poking gentle fun at the mafia movie genre, are entertaining as the heads of a mafia family, relocated to a small French town under the witness protection program. Their attempts to cope with their every day life - violently - are hit and miss, but Besson keeps the film light and breezy enough to make it an easily watchable farce.
Most distracting, however, are the tired American-French stereotypes, and the little to no justification given for how everyone in town seems to speak English.
