It has some inspired moments and the performances are great, but for the most part The Family cannot decide whether it wants to be a gangster flick or a satire of one, and for the most part fails on both parts.
The result is a slow-paced, poorly written attempt at a mob comedy that is what I would call tonally retarded (sorry tonally challenged).
