Review of The Fallen Idol (1948) by Ty C — 27 Oct 2008
Really cool movie with amazing twists and turns. Takes a little while to get going which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. But parts of this movie blew my mind, the ending was one of the best endings to a thriller that I've seen in years.
It has moments of poignant exhilaration where you are on the edge of your seat screaming at the screen, and after it is over you are like "that was so smart in so many different ways". You could put this movie alongside any great Hitchcock thriller and it would stand up just as well.
Beginning to love the director Carol Reed, I saw "The Third Man" and thought that was great too, gonna watch "Our Man in Havana" next.
