Review of The Fall (2006) by Carlos S — 26 May 2010
This is a truly beautiful film. Coming from the director of "The Cell", you would expect it to be visually stunning. I compare this to "Pan's Labyrinth", a film set in the real world and a fairy tale world, this is not as good as "Pan's" but it is a really good piece of cinema. This is what I would call an "Art" film, because it is the film equivalent of a beautiful painting.
Lee Pace is the lead here and as he was in "Pushing Daisies" he is really, really good in this. The rest of the cast is great as well, but Catinca Untaru, the little girl, is perfect. I think the director just told her what he wanted her to say and let her say it her way, she is very natural.
So, overall, a stunning film that works on most levels. If you are looking for a film that will look great and entertain with a good story (two in fact) give it a go, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.
