How did I miss this when it came through theaters? I only found it because it was ranked in the top tier for bluray quality. It definetly deserves merit for artistic direction. I liken watching it to a Salvador Dali painting in motion. It wasn't life changing or terrifying or anything. But it was very well done and was filled with beautiful metaphor and imagery and really utilizes the bluray's capability to the fullest.
The story itself is very much like The Neverending Story meets The English Patient intermingled with the Grapes of Wrath. The little girl in the film is so believable down to her stutter and inability to pernounce adult words. Creepy at times, surreal and all very beautiful. Definetly recommended viewing.
