Review of The Fall (2006) by Tara W — 12 Dec 2012
I first discovered this movie some months ago, but due to finals, the one week it played at the waterfront, I was unable to attend. And now after long waiting to finally view it, my largest worries are now over.
The Fall truly lives up to its incredible expectations. What the viewer is treated to is truly one of the most imaginative and incredible experiences possibly conceived. For the absence of visual effects but those replaced by the simply jaw-dropping locations of over 18 countries, truly explain its four-year process.
The characters are both injured in their own physical and mental ways, with their subtle or not-so-subtle flaws. Catinca Untaru gives an incredible performance for her age, and the fact that in real life she speaks no English only adds to her true talent.
And Pace creates frustration as he becomes more and more frustrated as the tale he weaves catches up to him. It truly is a one-in-a-million picture, and there's a reason why there aren't more like it.
