Review of The Faculty (1998) by Baurushan J — 14 Nov 2011
A dark thrilling suspenseful alien story with a hilariously set up cast including Josh Hartnett, Robert Patrick and Elijah Wood. I was laughing hysterically whenever they were on screen because they were so fucking awesome.
It starts off as Coach Willis played by the T-1000 himself Robert Patrick is attacked by an alien who soon becomes an alien himself then and he later takes on the other teachers while a few find him suspicious that he drinks a lot a water thinking that he's thirsty when it is actually the alien inside him which is thirsty itself.
Meanwhile the next day, a boy named Casey played by Elijah Wood finds a grub-looking species and takes it to his science looking class. We find out that is a parasite and it can spread easily. Meanwhile with the teachers, they have already taken been turned into aliens and for the students, it's too late for them to call the policemen as they took over them as well and now they have started to take over the students slowly and within a day and a half, the whole school is gone alien and thirsty for so much water except for six survivors including Casey, Delilah, Stokeley, Marybeth, Stan and Zeke played the always amazing Josh Hartnett.
Zeke takes his surviving friends to his house where he has his own lab and lets his friends take a cocaine-like drug which is a creation of his own to stay safe from the parasites as this will kill it.
But as the survivors are infected one by one, they soon battle into the school trying to find a way to kill the queen alien that will destroy all it's victims which Stokeley believes. After a chase in the swimming pool, it turns out that Marybeth was the real queen alien and she infected Coach Willis in the very beginning.
After Zeke is knocked out, it's Casey's responsibility to destroy the queen alien and he does even though the parasites fall on him, they don't manage to infect him as he is already protected and she is dead.
One month later, The high school is returned to normal as well as all the teachers and students and the policemen and the alien battle is over as the queen alien is dead. This movie just kicked ass and here's why: it mixes a bright and colourful story along with the characters and keeps an evil science-fiction mode in high school style that takes it to the horror movie method to make it a kick-ass film.
What is there to hate this film? it's just a bunch of classic alien cliches and alien references other than that, it's an excellent science-fiction horror movie which is well-acted, well-written, drives the audience into a suspenseful twist and gives the crowd a more-to-explore feeling plus some excellent soundtracks as well perfect for a high school alien movie.
Josh Hartnett, Robert Patrick and Elijah Wood were great. they were the defining sunshine of this film. Piper Laurie who you may remember as Carrie's mum Margaret White has a role as a teacher and she definitely did her part justice.
Laura Harris is the girl who plays Marybeth the evil queen alien in disguise and every time you see this sexy but deadly chick on screen, you're like holy shit where did that come from? Now most science-fiction thrillers reveal the girls to be naked to symbolise something and when they show this, they are too embarrassed to show the girls naked.
This movie went beyond the limit and showed Laura Harris as the evil queen alien fully naked from front to back in every kinds of shots as possible thanks to Kevin Williamson's writing and Robert Rodriguez in charge of production I mean we see everything from this girl, we see the chest, tits, boobs, stomach, vagina, legs, pretty face, back, ass, back legs, shoulders and everything soaked up sexily in a swimming pool scarily.
All the detail is shown perfectly which made me horny like hell and I don't think any other movie did that. Now the one complaint everyone has made is that this film is a rip-off of other science-fiction thrillers.
Uh NO! you are seriously fucked in the minds critics and I mean Elephant dick pound in the ass and hump it right there motherfucker. If you compare this to Scream, both movies actually have similarities.
Both movies ironically written by Kevin Williamson are parodies of their original genre. While Scream is a horror parody, The Faculty is a science-fiction parody. You enjoyed the horror parody so why are you calling this one a rip-off? The Faculty gets a 10/10.
