Review of The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) by Andrew W — 14 Feb 2010
Steve Kloves is something of a film-making enigma. Better known for penning the Harry Potter adaptations, Kloves' directorial debut (working from his own screenplay) possesses such a complete mise-en-scene you'd swear he'd been making movies for decades.
He coaxes fine performances from his cast too, with Michelle Pfieffer and Jeff Bridges' in particular offering poignant portraits of squandered talent and thwarted ambition.
