Review of The Fabulous Baker Boys (1989) by Jayden ; — 08 Jul 2008
Great casting with brothers Jeff and Beau Bridges as Jack and Frank, two veteran piano players who have taking their show on the road across the US in a slew of different venues across the years! They then decide to bring on board a singer, played to perfection by Michelle Pfeiffer (who should've won an Oscar here)! Great jazzy-piano score that really sets the mood of the characters and their plight, even with the occassional 1980s-styles thrown in too! My only complaint here was that despite the wonderful acting and chemistry between the leads, as well as, the refreshing script; I just felt that the screenplay and directing felt a bit too ambitious and suffered from not really having a unique personality of its own and being all over the place in terms of gendres.
.. Other than that, great film!
