Review of The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2000) by The M — 02 May 2008
I went into this hoping for a critical and vicious degrading of people I always believed to be total snakes. However, this DVD demonstrates that there's always a bigger, meaner, and hungrier snake (Jerry Falwell) and I finished it off with a special place in my heart (somewhere way in the back) for Tammy and Jim Bakker.
Falwell may be right- she may be a loon- but Bailey and Barbato portray her as an ultraresilient lightning rod for both secular and Christian criticism. I'd probably be a loon too if I had to go through what she went through.
This is a fantastic documentary.
