Review of The Extra Man (2010) by Leah L — 24 Jul 2010
Paul Dani has delivered us another indie kidult film. That is, he again plays a young man in new York who needs to learn to grow up and tries to do so while surrounded by oddballs. Kevin Kline plays the chief oddball, and while he provides most of the laughs, his incessantly goofy and unreal character grows grating.
Viewers will most likely feel a sense of relief when his character takes a reprieve for the third act. Katie Holmes also appears, and plays things obnoxiously cute and perky. The film does, however, succeed in it's sensitive portrayal of dano's characters cross dressing.
A decent if instantly evaporating film.
