Review of The Extra Man (2010) by Gavin M — 16 Aug 2012
I had to watch this films in chunks: a half hour here, a half hour there, because it was too convoluted and long. I feel certain the writers (there were three of them) had something interesting to say - actually a lot to say - but got lost in the telling. Lots of imagery and bizarre characters made it interesting to watch, which is the only reason I slogged my way through it. At the end of the film, however, the viewer is left with a somewhat hollow sense of having consumed something, but not quite knowing exactly what it was.
P.S. those who see it should watch for an entirely interesting character played by John C. Reilly.
