Review of The Expendables 3 (2014) by Swiftreviews — 26 Aug 2014
Worst out of the 3 which is why I gave it a low score, it delivered action and star power, but it fell short in story which is the most important part. The potential was great, but the underdevelopment of the bad guy Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), to make time for recruiting nobodies was a big failing. Mel is capable of being a stronger character than the script allowed.
I enjoyed Kelsey Grammer's character, was funny and saved a part of the movie from being extremely boring. Antonio Banderas's character annoyed me as much as the characters in the move, stupidly funny but more annoying.
The main reason this wasn't great was because I simply didn't care what happpens to the characters, they seem invincible, there was no emotional connection to the movie.
Its worth seeing because of the great actors and action sequences, despite the poor story and character development. They could do better than this, they must be running out of ideas, and just throwing more past prime actors at it.
