Review of The Expendables 3 (2014) by Connor L — 06 Jan 2015
This film takes all of what was good about the first two Expendables movies, dumps them in a compactor, takes out the crushed remains, and crush them again just to be sure that the good stuff in the series is now gone.
This film raises many questions for me. Why is Carmen Electra in this movie if she is generally more of a comedic actress? How does one replace Bruce Willis with Harrison Ford? Why does Mel Gibson still have a career? And why did the movie throw away the badassery for excessive explosions which make Michael Bay's stomach tighten? Oh right! Every person in the cast needed a paychecks and it needs to be fitting in it's 12A rating to get the biggest audiences possible.
Unfortunately, they were mistaken, as this film is the lowest grossing in the series and rightfully deservedly so. This is the worst of the trilogy, like an anti-Battle of Five Armies, if you will.
