Review of The Expendables (2000) by Andrei M — 20 Aug 2012
There were times in the first half of this movie where I was tempted to turn it off. The dialogue, pacing and story were so painfully obvious, cliched and downright awful. Naturally, if you're watching this movie you're hoping to see the plethora of 80s action stars kick ass.
Thankfully, in the second half the action quota picks up and there are plenty of good action scenes. That said, it's sad that Stallone didn't come up with a better script to unite all these stars.
The film is so bloody American and testosterone that it's embarrassing. But I suppose it's an homage to those cheesy 80s action movies so don't expect much.
