You can imagine the reaction I had once I saw the first trailer for this film: PURE EXCITEMENT. It carries all of the action stars I love and I knew that it was going to be the old-school 80's action style of movie that I absolutely love.

If you aren't familiar with the formula it pretty much boils down to: Guns, Fights, Action, Explosions, Cheesiness, One-Liners, and did I mention Explosions? Led by good ole Sly Stallone, "The Expendables" hits theaters with a iconic cast never before put together.

Besides Stallone you have: Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Mickey Rourke, Steve Austin, and a couple of cameos from the biggest names in the 80's-90's including Bruce Willis, and "The Gov" Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The plot follows Stallone and his band of Mercenaries to a little island in the Gulf to track down and rescue the daughter of the President of that country. In the way stands a corrupt CIA Agent played by the one and only Eric Roberts, and his misfit bad-asses that are taking over the Government down south.

Filled with action, some great one-liners, explosions, and everything else you expect, "The Expendables" is definitely a movie for action lovers, and lovers of the 80's action heroes. Just remember, this is a fun movie, nothing that is going to get an Oscar nod, pure entertainment here.

Enjoy it with a tall brew, the testosterone level here is crazy. 4/5 JD.
