Review of The Expendables (2000) by James F — 01 Jan 2013
With a cast of action-movie heroes from the 80s and beyond, there was never going to be any doubt which direction this movie would take. However, rather than wedging tongue in cheek, and making a fun movie, it is played straight-laced albeit with the addition of over-the-top violence and scenic destruction.
If thought-provoking movies are your cup of tea, this will be your poison. If you like the violence turned up a notch with little regard for telling a decent story, you'll lap it up.
